What to do now

Stay clear of the door, do not adjust the springs, then request a visit.

  1. Stay clear of the door and opener — never try to adjust or replace a torsion spring yourself.
  2. If the door is partly open, keep people and vehicles out from under it.
  3. Disconnect the opener only if you know how and it is safe; otherwise leave it.
  4. Photograph the door and opener if it is safe.
  5. Send the request form.
  6. Contact your insurer or landlord if a storm or impact caused the damage.
